Reporting to the Assistant Director of Pharmacy Services, this position is responsible for the operational management of clincal services of the inpatient pharmacy services in adult patients at OHSU. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, employee supervision; education and training of staff; program development; management of business and professional activities of the pharmacies; quality assessment and process improvement; and maintenance of practice standards, customer service, compliance with accreditation standards and applicable laws and regulations; coordination of pharmacy services with other hospital departments, and teaching of pharmacy students, interns and residents.
Function/Duties of Position- Operations Management: Manages the adult clinical operations at University Hospital in a cost-effective manner, directing day-to-day operations (24/7), delegating responsibility and authority for providing services
- Supervision of Staff: Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and supervises assigned staff, develops performance standards, conducts performance appraisals (PE); and recommends salary increases consistent with Hospital policy and procedures
- Program Design & Development: Development of programs, strategies, facilities and systems for service improvement or expansion in inpatient clinical services
- Process/Service Monitoring: Determines, coordinates/delegates, and schedules appropriate assignment of staff to meet workload demands, assuring adequate resources are available. Maintains practice standards, compliance, and accreditation standards and applicable laws and regulations.
- Process Improvement: Develops new and improved clinical services through constant evaluation and innovation. Continuously improving services to meet patient and provider needs.
- Departmental Interdiscliplinary Coordination: Coordinates services in assigned areas with other Pharmacy areas, nursing areas, other Hospital departments, and external agencies to facilitate continuity of care.
- Teaching: Coordinates the education and training of pharmacy students and residents as applicable; serves as department coordinator for student rotations
- Pharmacy, BS
- Administrative Pharmacy Residency or 2 yrs experience of clinical management in hospital pharmacy
- Proficiency in an area of clinical pharmacy practice

- Licensed Pharmacist in Oregon

- BCPS or other clinical certifications
- The incumbent will spend a significant amount of time at a computer terminal. The position must deal with situations on a daily basis with a high degree of intensity. In addition, within the health care setting there can be significant lack of control over the work pace, with frequent interruptions (work is often dictated by external factors) that may lead to mental fatigue or stress
