Student Health Services - Administration:

UCF Health - Student Health Services (SHS) provides various primary and specialty care services to help keep students, faculty and staff at their optimum health. The Health Center is located on the Main Campus, and satellite clinics are located at the Health Sciences and Downtown campuses. Our services are designed with students, faculty and staff needs in mind. The Opportunity:

The Medical Director, Student Health Services, provides administrative leadership and management of provider-related clinical services at SHS and provides direct clinical services to patients and consultative services to clinical staff. In addition to the main campus Health Center, the Medical Director provides clinical oversight to the SHS Downtown Union West and College of Medicine (COM) satellite clinics. Determines policy with the AVP of SHS related to clinical operation. Interprets University of Central Florida, SUS and Board of Regents policy as it relates to student health and wellness. Formulates medical policies including guidelines for APRNs and PAs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides clinical direction to all clinical services.

  • Responsible for planning, directing, and controlling the care and services of the Student Health Services providers.

  • Responsible for hiring and maintaining adequate level of provider staff to meet the needs of SHS patient population.

  • Leads monthly provider meetings.

  • Advises and assists in planning, directing, and reporting clinical service activity.

  • Updates clinical policies in PowerDMS.

  • Ensures clinical activities are following SHS policies, state and federal statutes, and Board of Regents guidelines.

  • Ensures the quality of professional standards at level required by licensing agencies and as outlined by the American College Health Association.

  • Direct supervision to clinical leaders (Assistant Directors Clinical Programs) and general supervision of all medical staff (providers).

  • Projects organizational goals in patient care plans, improvement of existing services and expansion of services as appropriate with effective expenditure of allocated funds. Leadership and membership on multiple SHS clinical committees.

  • Medical Director Provider Performed Microscopy (PPM) Laboratory Services with oversight of SHS laboratory and leads monthly laboratory meetings.

  • Ensures all PPM lab policies and procedures comply to the pre analytical, analytical, and post analytical testing process.

  • Serves on university or system-wide committees, including Clinical Council for AHSC. Represents SHS and/or provides medical input and expertise to other units and departments of the university.

  • Provides direct clinical services to patients and provides clinical consultative services to medical staff.

  • Timely completion of all required university, AHSC, and SHS trainings.

  • Teaching role as lead supervisor of medical student and resident preceptorships at SHS. Participates in SHS research activities as Co-PI and serves on research committee.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years of leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from an accredited school of medicine.

  • Board-certified physician in family or internal medicine.

  • Licensed to practice medicine in accordance with Chapter 458, Florida Statutes. Experience in college health or comparable busy primary care outpatient clinical experience.

  • Excellent communication skills, and ability to relate well with staff and students in a college health environment.

  • 3 years of experience supervising other physicians.

  • Academic health Background.

Monday - Friday within the hours of 7:30am - 6:30pm. (8 hour shifts/40 hours) Occasional Saturdays may be required. Hours are subject to change due to operational needs, special projects and emergencies.
